PRIZM: “You Should Know”

Get out your leotard and gather all your scrunchies because Fort Worth-based pop duo PRIZM is restoring the 80’s sound to its full glory on their latest single, “You Should Know.”

Pop music has been borrowing a lot from the 80’s in recent times, but PRIZM has captured that retro spirit and given it a thoroughly modern twist. The pair of singer-songwriters are naturally talented and have found a way to combine their impressive vocals with a glossy production-style to create a shiny, updated version of the 80’s synth-wave genre.

“You Should Know” is compelling from start to finish. Danni James and Krisluv’s voices have the kind of harmonic symmetry that will blow your mind. Their uplifting songwriting is just the kind of sweet escape from the everyday you could ask for, washing away all your worries like magic. “Your touch as good as gold/Cards too good to fold,” the first verse starts off on a positive note.

While the members of PRIZM have proven themselves virtuosos of all-things-80’s, the multi-faceted musicians also happen to dabble in acoustic rock and perform in a Fleetwood Mac cover band! This may come as a shock at first, but if you listen carefully enough to PRIZM’s harmonies on “You Should Know” then you’ll be able to hear just a tinge of that classic rock influence in their vocal progression. This track is certainly an ode to the 80’s through and through, but it’s fascinating to see that PRIZM is able to draw from a variety of genres (some more subtle than others) to create this refreshing and forward thinking take on some of the most iconic eras in music history. We can’t wait to see what comes next from this dynamic duo, but in the meantime give “You Should Know” a listen below!
