SAINt JHN: “Roses” (Imanbek Remix)

May 29, 2020. Writer: Emma Kopelowicz

Brooklyn-native SAINt JHN’s moody, synth rap banger “Roses” has been transformed into a headbanging club mix by Kazakh producer, Imanbek.

The Guyanese American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer is a longtime veteran of the industry, but he only released his first solo album back in 2018. SAINt JHN has written for a number of notable acts including Usher, Beyoncé, and Hoodie Allen. Now he’s become a worldwide star of his own after the “Roses” remix secured him a place on the US Billboard Hot 100. SAINt JHN and Imanbek have proven that sometimes revisiting old material and giving it another spin can lead to a smash hit.

The original single is much darker and harnesses a nonchalant, slightly menacing energy. The new mix is much bouncier and there’s less of a focus on his lyrics which delve into the mind and lifestyle of the rapper himself. SAINt JHN’s voice has been transformed from an emotional sing-rap flow into a high-pitched, high-speed, and high-energy autotuned club ringleader. It’s a dramatic shift by most remix standards, and we can’t help ourselves from turning it up louder and louder as the song progresses. Get ready to get your blood flowing and your fist pumping when you give this track a listen!
