Salem-native dev has us seeing in technicolor with his passionate new single “P1” off his latest EP, Painting Pictures.

Strumming raw, acoustic guitar chords, the New England singer-songwriter takes it back to the basics with this minimalist masterpiece. The artist’s easygoing vocals perfectly flow over the soothing riffs and catchy drumbeats that form the base of the melody. His sonic palette is full of bright harmonies and nuanced chord progressions which compliment his intimate lyricism.

Tapping into his deepest emotions and thoughts, dev lets us into his heart through his storytelling. “Every little thing about you makes me lose my mind/You’re running circles round my head/I feel this all the time,” the artist serenades his muse. Painting rich metaphors on top of his own personal insights, dev forms a multilayered composition on this track that listeners may need to hear multiple times to fully absorb. Like a moving work of cubist art, “P1” is greater than the sum of its parts. Each guitar strum and emotion-infused lyric embodies the beauty of this great love that has left the artist spellbound. “P1” has solidified that this young prodigy is set to become one of the greats.
