Kyne x Redd x Blaze: “2 Signs”

December 8, 2020 | Writer: Ico Beltran

Over a year after Lil Nas X’s seminal fusion of hip hop and country in “Old Town Road,”Kyne x Redd x Blaze’s “2 Signs” continues to scrape at the line between the two genres.

This collaboration of Rapper Redd, Kyne, and Blaze Ya Dead Homie recollectsmemories of speeding, drinking, and having a good time with that one high schoolsweetheart. Although the song’s verses intensify from rapper to rapper, thecountry-inspired hook remains the focal point of the song as it imagines a past romance:“She was in her knee highs, I was in my Levis, swervin’ throwing peace signs, we don’tstop for red lights, tryna have the best night, grab another Bud Light, we drinking til’ thesunrise.” These lines not only paint a picture of adolescence in the rural area, but it’salso a statement on how we should live: Let’s stop for nothing and enjoy life while wecan. It’s an apt message from three artists that boldly combine self-made, sentimentalverses with a classic country vibe.

Rapper Redd, Kyne, and Blaze Ya Dead Homie are all proficient rappers in their ownright. Watch out for any of their future releases!
