“Deserve” is an expression of resignation due to self-doubt. Kevin Kadish’s lines that speak ill of himself perfectly match the heavy-hearted chords of David Baron.
This new track by David Baron and Kevin Kadish illustrates a grey room with a single lonely man looking out through a gritty window. That man recalls the untaken opportunities in his life, regretting the decisions that has brought him to such a gloomystate. This kind of recollection, an indelible piece of sadness, is what Kadish is singing about. He states, “I don’t deserve your love. I don’t deserve your love. Why do you keep on loving me?” and “I would change but I don’t know how. I was never good enough for you,” wallowing in a muddle of remorse. But despite its dismal atmosphere, this track is nonetheless beautiful. It speaks for us during the times when we don’t feel worthy.
David Baron has previously worked with The Lumineers, Meghan Trainor, Shawn Mendesm and Phoebe Bridgers and Kevin Kadish has also contributed to the work of artists such as Jason Mraz, Miley Cyrus, and 5th Harmony. As longtime friends with heavy experience in the music industry, it’s no surprise that Baron and Kadish havemade such a great track.
