Karl Wolf: “Get Away”

December 25, 2020 | Writer: Ico Beltran

Karl Wolf’s new single, “Get Away,” is packed with eccentric, high-pitched vocal samples and French house beats.

“Get Away” combines looped vocal samples that sound like extraterrestrial lifeformstrying to communicate with earth and deep, minimalistic pads in a 4/4 beat. The formulais simple but the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The “whole,” in this case, isa dark dance-pop track with Karl Wolf’s studio precision vocals. In comparison to his previous tracks of 2020, such as “Gravity,” “Wolf in the Night,” and “City of Lies,” this is easily Wolf’s most unconventional. Evidently, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Wolf has taken a risk but has clearly pulled through. This track will keep you yearning for the latenight disco.

Karl Wolf is a well known musician due to his cover of Toto’s “Africa” released in 2008. With “Get Away,” he proves that he still has what it takes to be a modern pop artist.
